When Oleta Belle Campbell was born on April 6, 1912, in Tolar, Texas, her father, David, was 47, and her mother, Lillie, was 38. She married Leslie Scott Brooks on November 27, 1929, in Tipton, Oklahoma. They had three children during their marriage. She died on July 26, 1979, at the age of 67, and was buried in her hometown. Oleta Belle is my grandmother she was one of the strongest Women I know I watched her try to process the loss of her son, who was shot down in Vietnam, and was listed as MIA and never came home.
