Addie Belle Atwell Cox
Addie Belle Atwell Cox
Born on a cold winter’s day, December 29, 1884, in Rowan County, North Carolina, Addie Belle Atwell entered the world with a name that would be passed down through generations as a symbol of grace and strength. The daughter of Richard and Vira Atwell, she married her sweetheart, Caleb Hamilton Cox, on June 9, 1902, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Together they built a large and loving family, raising nine children over 22 years of marriage.
Addie Belle lived a life rooted in resilience, devotion, and quiet determination during a time of great change in America. She passed away on December 2, 1959, in Newton, North Carolina, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of love and family that continues to inspire.
At Sweet Bella Bags, we honor Addie Belle’s memory with the Addie Belle Collection. Just as she created a full life from what she was given, these bags are lovingly made from repurposed denim paired with premium leather accents — a beautiful reminder that something old can be transformed into something new and meaningful.
The name “Belle” carries special meaning in our family. It was passed down through the generations — from Addie Belle to my grandmother Oleta Belle, and then to me, Evelyn Belle. This collection celebrates that beautiful thread of strength, grace, and femininity that connects us all.
