Janey Laverne Smith: The Fun-Loving, Go-Getter Aunt Who Left a Lasting Mark
Born on August 4, 1943, in Hood, Texas, Janey Laverne Smith was the daughter of Alvis and Thea Smith. On March 2, 1962, she married my uncle Bobby Lynn Brooks in Tolar, Texas. Together they raised two children and built a life full of love, laughter, and faith.
To me, Aunt Janey was so much more than an aunt — she had a special place in my heart and will always be deeply missed. She was a true go-getter, full of energy and joy. Some of my fondest childhood memories are riding around the farm in her jeep, swimming in the water tank, and shelling peas together on the porch. She made even the simplest moments fun and memorable.
Janey was a strong and devout Christian woman who faced unimaginable loss with remarkable grace. She tragically lost her son and grandson far too soon, yet she handled her grief with incredible strength and dignity. Her faith never wavered, and her example continues to inspire our family.
At Sweet Bella Bags, we honor my Aunt Janey with the Janey Collection. These bags reflect her vibrant personality — fun, practical, and full of heart — just like the woman who inspired them.
